stress free zone
WHY IS STRESS A PROBLEM?
Research indicates that when we feel overwhelming stress related to school it not only demotivates us to do the work, it reduces our overall academic achievement and can lead to increased dropout rates. Not to mention the negative health implications, including depression, poor sleep, substance abuse, and anxiety.
Design Process
This project is a group project that consists of two main components: Interface Design and Drum Design. I was assigned the Interface Design role and my partner was assigned the Drum Design role. However, our efforts overlapped outside of our primary roles.
Interface Design
My Role:
The interface design is focused on creating a visually appealing and intuitive interface that allows users to interact with the app on a tablet device. The interface design should be optimized for the tablet's larger screen size and touch-based input, providing users with a comfortable and enjoyable user experience.
Drum Design

School Project
Year
2023
Partner’s Role:
The Drum aspect of the design process is focused on creating the physical product that will be played as a musical instrument. Working with the program Arduino to combine the elements of lighting to soothe the user visually as well as creating beats to go along with the user created drum sounds.
Narrative Architecture
The initial route that users will take when connected with iPad display.
Wire Frames
The basic flow and structure set the way for simple features to be displayed. Starting to populate copy for what instructions/phrasing are needed on each page.
Low Fidelity
Allowing for the planning of buttons and spacing within the entire design ecosystem. Starting to work with colors and gradients that express stress relief and a calming nature.
High Fidelity
The final designs were completed after feedback from course classmates on the development of the low-fidelity mockups.
Technology
The Arduino code was uploaded to the Nano and powered by a 5 volt power-strip directly connected to the LED lights using a series of pins and wires. The microphone picks up the sound waves from the drum and sends a signal to the Arduino which then sends the code to light up the LED lights.
Set Up
Sketching out how the proposed set will appear when users approach. Finializing the LED lights to the wall and placing all the pieces together.
